DOOR JORDI BOUDecember 31, 2023 – Een kleine selectie van beroemde figuren die in 2023 stierven, zijn onder meer de voormalige Amerikaanse First Lady Rosalynn Carter, de voormalige Amerikaanse minister van Buitenlandse Zaken Henry Kissinger, de langstzittende premier van Italië Silvio Berlusconi en de ex-president van Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf. De kunstwereld verloor de Australische komiek Barry Humphries, acteurs Matthew Perry, Raquel Welch en Glenda Jackson, en zangers Tina Turner, Sinéad O’Connor en Harry Belafonte, terwijl sportfans rouwden om het verlies van een van de grootste voetbalgrootheden aller tijden, Bobby Charlton.

Sinéad O’Connor, 56. Irish singer, songwriter and political activist shot to fame after her biggest hit, Nothing Compares 2 U, topped charts worldwide.
Tina Turner, 83. Pioneering pop icon found fame with husband Ike before going on to global solo success with hits like The Best.
Harry Belafonte, 96. Singer and actor who popularised calypso music in the 1950s and becamea dynamic force in the U.S. civil rights movement.
Raquel Welch, 82. Actress who became an international sex symbol as a deerskin bikini-clad cavewoman in the 1966 film One Million Years B.C.
Bobby Charlton, 86. One of football’s all-time greats, Manchester Utd and England legend won World Cup, European Cup and Ballon d’Or.
Glenda Jackson, 87. Multi-award winning actress who gave up career to serve in UK Parliament for 23 years, before returning to acting at 80.
